Mobilane Wins Two BuGG Awards for Green Facade and Green Wall of the Year in Germany

Mobilane, a specialist in green wall systems, has received two prestigious BuGG awards in collaboration with its German partner Gefässerie for projects in Germany. The new Gefässerie headquarters in Fuchsstadt was honored as the “Green Facade of the Year 2024” by the Bundesverband GebäudeGrün (BuGG), while the Timberjacks restaurant in Cologne received the award for “Green Wall Interior of the Year 2024.”

The Bundesverband GebäudeGrün e.V. (BuGG) is a leading German organization dedicated to promoting and advancing green roofs, facades, and indoor greenery. Each year, BuGG presents these prestigious awards to the best projects in Germany, recognizing excellence and innovation in green design.

Green Facade of the Year

The facade of the Gefässerie building, constructed using Mobilane’s MobiPanel system, is completely covered with 6,171 plants over a surface of 172 m². This modular system is designed for sustainable, low-maintenance facade greening projects, offering not only a natural aesthetic but also contributing to a healthier living environment.

A unique feature that contributed to winning the award is the advanced water management system, which fully utilizes collected rainwater to irrigate the facade. The system employs a capillary irrigation mat and an internal water reservoir, ensuring plants have continuous access to sufficient water without intensive irrigation. This automated, sustainable system minimizes maintenance and ensures efficient watering while respecting the natural water cycle.

Green Wall of the Year

In Cologne, the Timberjacks restaurant was recognized for its 41 m² plant wall, created using Mobilane’s LivePanel Indoor system. This flexible system allows for the integration of openings for passageways and staircases into the design. The wall improves acoustics and the indoor climate, significantly enhancing the customer experience.
