Mobilane wins two BuGG Awards for green exterior façade and interior green wall of the year in Germany

Mobilane, in collaboration with its German partner Gefässerie, has received two prestigious BuGG awards for projects in Germany. Gefässerie’s new headquarters in Fuchsstadt was honoured as the “Green Façade of the Year 2024” by the Bundesverband GebäudeGrün (BuGG), while the Timberjacks restaurant in Cologne received the award for “Green Interior Wall of the Year 2024.”

The Bundesverband GebäudeGrün e.V. (BuGG) is a leading German organisation dedicated to the promotion and development of green roofs, facades, and interior spaces. Each year, BuGG presents these prestigious awards to the best projects in Germany, recognising excellence and innovation in green design.

Green Facade of the Year

The facade of the Gefässerie building, created with Mobilane’s MobiPanel system, is fully covered with 6,171 plants across an area of 172 m². This modular system is designed for sustainable, low-maintenance green facade projects, offering not only a natural appearance but also contributing to a healthier living environment.

A unique feature that contributed to winning the award is the advanced water management system, which fully utilises collected rainwater to irrigate the facade. The system uses a capillary irrigation mat and an internal water reservoir, ensuring that the plants have continuous access to sufficient water without intensive irrigation. This automated, sustainable system minimises maintenance and provides efficient watering that respects the natural water cycle.

Green Wall of the Year

In Cologne, the Timberjacks restaurant was recognised for its 41 m² plant wall, created using Mobilane’s LivePanel Indoor system. This flexible system allows for the integration of openings for walkways and staircases into the design. The wall improves acoustics and the indoor climate, significantly enhancing the customer experience.
