A Green Screen consists of a metal mesh frame that is already fully covered in plants. The plants grow in a coir tray filled with potting soil, which is fitted to the underside of the frame. This creates a dense, fully grown privacy screen immediately after installation, unlike traditional hedge planting where several years are needed to achieve a fully established hedge.
Once the Green Screen has been installed, the fully biodegradable coir tray decomposes within one to two years. This encourages the roots to grow into the surrounding soil, allowing the hedge to establish naturally. The galvanised steel mesh frame remains in place as a permanent stabilising structure and is fixed to wooden or steel posts.
The main difference is the instant result. A Green Screen provides immediate privacy and a fully green appearance after installation, whereas a traditionally planted hedge requires several years to grow into a dense screen. In addition, a Green Screen can be installed year-round, except during frost periods, while traditional hedge planting is generally restricted to the planting season.
A Green Screen is made from a coir tray (100% biological and fully biodegradable), a galvanised steel mesh frame (100% recyclable) and galvanised iron brackets. The hardwood posts and transport crates comply with EU Timber Regulation requirements.
Landscaping contractors use Green Screens wherever an immediate green result is required, including traffic-guiding greenery, public green spaces, property boundaries in residential developments, green walls and graffiti prevention along walls and fencing.
