2009 – Innovation and development of green facade systems
The architectural world demanded vertical greenery that offered more variety than the traditional hedera or hedge. There was a need for a flexible system with a wide range of plants that was easy to use. Mobilane’s R&D team set to work developing an innovative green facade system. By experimenting with rock wool panels, which served as substrate supports, the first LivePanel green wall system was born.
Further development into an innovative and efficient system
In 2014, the system was further improved in a new phase of innovation. The updated LivePanel system introduced a cassette with 9 individual cups in which plants could be placed. To test the durability and reliability of the system, the impact of different seasons and weather conditions was simulated in a special laboratory.
For example, a freezer container was equipped with fans and lamps with a daylight spectrum to simulate wind and sunlight. In addition, the system was exposed to prolonged frost in a cold room to see how well it could withstand extreme cold. These thorough tests ensured that the system could withstand a variety of climatic conditions and be reliably deployed.
Successful launch
The updated LivePanel system was first shown to the public in 2012 at the Floriade in Venlo. Here Mobilane demonstrated the capabilities and advantages of the system, setting a new standard for green facades in architecture. With LivePanel, Mobilane again showed how innovation and sustainability come together in functional and aesthetic solutions for urban greening.
