LivePictures in the Warung Mini Kijkduin restaurant

LivePictures are stealing the show at Warung Mini’s newest takeaway restaurant in Kijkduin, in the Netherlands.

The latest branch of the family owned Warung Mini chain is located at the Deltaplein development in the seaside resort of Kijkduin. Deltaplein offers an atmospheric fusion of different cuisines and an indoor market. Seaside holidaymakers can choose from a wide range of sit-down and takeaway restaurants at the newly built food court. Mobilane’s LivePicture, supplied by official Mobilane dealer Orangerie Bijleveld, was chosen to brighten up the interior of the new Warung Mini restaurant. A total of eight LivePictures have been installed at the venue, contributing to the natural appearance of the restaurant.

Warung Mini Kijkduin interior

The walls at the restaurant are clad in bamboo to create a warm and natural appearance. As a true plant lover, the owner really wanted to incorporate plants in the interior to improve the acoustics and create an enjoyable atmosphere. The interior of the new Warung Mini restaurant in Kijkduin was designed by architect John Rous. LivePicture was selected as a core element of the interior design. “I think LivePicture is a stunning product. The wall never stops changing, as the plants in LivePicture keep growing and changing color. It is also really easy to maintain: you only need to top up the water level once a month,” John Rous comments. The recesses in the bamboo walls provide space for eight LivePicture 1 plant pictures in anthracite. Orangerie Bijleveld worked closely with interior decorator Rijser  to make sure the LivePictures sit perfectly into the recesses. The tables at the restaurant are the same width as the LivePictures, resulting in a really elegant interplay of dimensions.

A few LivePictures have also been placed on the opposing wall to add a nice finishing touch to the restaurant. Frank Steenbakker and Petra de Groot of Orangerie Bijleveld are extremely pleased with what LivePicture has allowed them to create: “With its luxury appearance and wide range of applications, it’s no wonder that LivePicture is such a popular item. The fact that it’s so easy to water is also a major benefit of this product.”

A homely feeling with LivePictures

When it came to selecting plants for the LivePictures, Rafiek Wirokarso, the owner of Warung Mini Kijkduin, wanted different varieties in each plant picture, so that each LivePicture looked unique. Plants such as Fatsia japonica, Beaucarnea nolina, Tradescantia, and a Begonia with bright-red leaves have all been used. So far, the response to the LivePictures at Warung Mini Kijkduin has been overwhelmingly positive. Architect John Rous is also satisfied with the end result: “I think it’s a real success, not only in terms of the restaurant design, but also in terms of the positive reactions from visitors. The atmosphere created by the LivePictures is truly special: it’s not something you see every day.” Rafiek is also extremely pleased with the end result. “We opted for LivePictures because of their size. That way, we could spread greenery more equally throughout the restaurant, giving the whole place a green touch. We wanted to create a homely feeling, and the LivePictures helped us achieve that. I think it has turned out really stunning; we are very happy with the end result.”
