Reducing roadside noise at Fresh Wharf

Flanked by excellent transport links and with direct access to the A406 North Circular, the construction of the new residential development at Fresh Wharf Estate in Barking, Essex has taken consideration of the resulting traffic noise for its residents. Installed along the perimeter of the development expertly by Billericay Fencing Limited, the resulting 500 linear metre expanse has been soundproofed using Mobilane NoiStop noise reducing acoustic wall.

Instant peace, privacy and security

With the sound eminating from the passing and often static traffic, the 4m high NoiStop Steel panels now form a sound pollution barrier, not only shielding against noise but absorbing the sound waves, reducing the ambient sound significantly. NoiStop panels have been rigourously tested for their sound insulation and absorption properties and have been found to reduce perceived noise volume by up to 70% (12 dB).

The noise barrier in action

Billericay Fencing Limited, established for over 30 years and providing numerous commercial fencing installations across the Essex region, installed the 4 metre steel panels in February 2019.  With the introduction of additional tree, shrub and ground cover planting the roadside expanse is now not only sound-proofed but aesthetically pleasing to site visitors, residents and passers-by. Installation of the NoiStop Green panels was straightforward, with no heavy lifting equipment required for installations below 270 cm in height. The 13 cm thick panels were easily installed by hand and their galvanized steel frames are already enjoying early coverage by the climbing plants grown in close proximity.  This does not affect the sound absorption and sound insulation properties of the wall.

These can also be used in combination with Mobilane Living Green Screens for immediate foliage cover and instant visual impact and are also available in NoiStop Wood options where the mineral wool is sandwiched between aluminium strips with impregnated wooden slats attached.

Fresh Wharf Estate waterside development

The 17 acre former brownfield industrial site has been developed in partnership with Notting Hill Genesis and is home to a diverse mix of businesses as well as the residential development under construction by Countryside Properties. The development’s waterside location runs along the banks of the River Roding, a tributary of the Thames.
