Green facade underlines character of real Italy

The new restaurant chain for authentic Italian pizzas, 60 Seconds to Napoli, has created a green façade in the courtyard of its restaurant in Münster to underline the true Neapolitan atmosphere. The greenery, consisting of almost 1,000 plants with a total area of 23.5 m2, extends over a long façade in the inner garden. With the flowering plants in the façade, which now looks full and colourful in the summer months, it has become an appealing sight.
In 60 seconds to Napoli
The owner of the successful restaurant chain was looking for the ultimate solution to freshen up a dreary courtyard garden, which consisted almost entirely of concrete facades, and at the same time a product that would underline the atmosphere and aesthetic of authentic Napoli. Traditional pots and planters would take up too much floor space, reducing the number of tables that could be placed. Mobilane’s MobiPanel green facade proved to be the perfect choice in this regard. Not only does the green facade create atmosphere and a natural green look that emphasises the Italian character, but because the plants hang (vertically) from the facade, it does not take up valuable floor space. Indeed, the restaurant is located in Münster’s busy city centre, where there is almost no free space to build anything and existing, rentable space for gastronomy is even more limited.
The newly opened restaurant in Münster, with up to 100 seats inside and 60 seats outside in the courtyard garden, is the 8th in the popular 60 Seconds to Napoli chain. This property was previously a Mexican restaurant and severely outdated. The courtyard was bare and ugly; concrete and discoloured facades, a bad floor, dirty and old. It needed a whole new paving and planting against the long concrete facade to create the right atmosphere for guests coming to enjoy a traditional Neapolitan pizza in the courtyard.
Convincing side effects of a real green facade
Hydropa Begrünung mit System was contracted to install Mobilane’s MobiPanel green facades, so that the facades would not only look attractive to restaurant guests, but would also contribute to greening and biodiversity, create a pleasant and calming atmosphere and regulate the air quality and temperature of the courtyard. Bernd Thiele, founder of Hydropa: ‘Despite the fact that a MobiPanel green façade falls into a different price category than stand-alone planters or pots, the additional positive effects of an all-green façade were convincing enough to make the owner decide to make this investment.’
‘I found the entire collaboration with Mobilane to realize these walls, from the involvement in the thinking process, drawing up the plans and calculating the quotation to the very friendly and precise handling by the German team, to be very pleasant, even “outstanding”. The owner and staff were also very happy with the process and the final result.’
From sad little yard to rustic courtyard garden
And the result is quite something! A beautiful façade in a characteristic courtyard garden, full and lush with a selection of green plants and flowering plants. In the evening, the cozy mood lighting in the façade goes on, giving 60 Seconds to Napoli guests the feeling of being in a real, rustic Italian courtyard garden in Napoli where they can enjoy an authentic pizza. Branch manager and also regional manager Daniel Matyasz is more than happy with the result and says there is a very nice atmosphere on the terrace because of the beautiful green facade. ‘This facade lends a very special flair to the restaurant. It looks much cozier and invites you to stay longer. It enhances the Italian atmosphere we want to convey, as the flowering wall exudes a special romance.’
The next branches in the chain are Hamburg and Bonn. Meanwhile, the opening of Koblenz, including a green facade, is also planned.
