Never change a winning team
Timberjacks in Cologne is going for vertical green once again as an attractive eye-catcher for a new restaurant. In Germany, this product is the winner of the BuGG Award for ‘Green wall of the year 2024’.
Timberjacks has previously incorporated a green wall in the interior design of its new restaurant in Siegen (Germany) in autumn 2021. “Our guests love the food we serve, but they equally appreciate our attractive ambiance, and our natural look with lots of wood and real greenery. They’re always full of praise for the excellent room acoustics and the pleasant climate in our space. We are also extremely satisfied with the quality of the system. Everything works perfectly. As such, it won’t come as a surprise that we wanted our guests to be greeted by another green wall when we opened our restaurant in Cologne,” Galina Hansen, Head of Operations at Timberjacks Holding, explains. In Cologne, the wall planted with real plants on the stairs to the upper floor serves as a wonderful green eye-catcher and a source of great pleasure for guests.
A green touch with LivePanel
Achim Eilingsfeld from Gefässerie in Hammelburg (DE), who was responsible for planning and realizing the project, is also satisfied: “The special thing about this project is that the staircase sits directly in front of the plant wall. There is also an opening in the wall, providing access to the restroom. The modular design of Mobilane’s LivePanel made it possible to realize this without any problems.” In total, an area covering 38 square meters has been greened using our patented LivePanel system. This modular, fully recyclable vertical greening system comes with replaceable plant cassettes filled with substrate. Installation of the LivePanel system is quick and easy. Each row of cassettes is placed in a gutter profile, which doubles as a water reservoir. The plants supply themselves with water from the profile via capillary action.
Plants selected with care
As a first step, the technical components were installed. Next, the pre-grown cassettes were fitted just before the project was completed. In terms of greenery, Timberjacks opted for a striking mix that creates an attractive, three-dimensional look. Each plant is special: Asplenium nidus, a fern with narrow, light green leaves; Monstera minima with exotic-looking, slit leaves; Platycerium bifucatum with attractive, antler-shaped leaves; Scindapsus aureum with light green leaves with yellow and whitish markings; Philodendron scandens with heart-shaped glossy leaves. The result is a dense, opulent, and splendid oasis of greenery enriching the space. To ensure that the plant wall stays looking lush and beautiful at all times, the LivePanel system is carefully serviced and maintained several times a year, even after completion.
