Interior design brand Brabantia has recently moved into its new headquarters in Valkenswaard (NL). Several green living walls have been installed at the office, contributing to the company’s sustainable image. The entire office — designed by Gert Jan Kruijning of AA Architects — was built in line with the BREEAM standards. The vertical greenery in the building was installed by Ten Brinke Interieurbeplanting.
Sustainable Design
Brabantia’s new head office was built to be climate-neutral, in line with the BREEAM standards. The building’s skeleton is made entirely of wood. The green walls in the office bring nature inside and provide many other benefits: they produce oxygen and help improve the indoor climate.
Thomas Deenen, Commercial Director at Brabantia Benelux & DACH, has the following to say about the project: “The architect came up with the idea of incorporating vertical greenery into the design, in line with Brabantia’s requirements: plenty of greenery, sustainability, an enjoyable atmosphere, and a natural transition from outside to inside. The green living walls are a real eye-catcher; a real image-defining part of the interior. The vertical greenery simply looks great, brings a warm and natural feel, and smells nice and fresh as a bonus.”
Innovative and sustainable green wall system
The living walls were installed by Mobilane dealer Ten Brinke Interieurbeplanting, using the LivePanel system. LivePanel stands out as an innovative and sustainable system in the world of vertical greenery. It can be installed on both new and existing walls. The green walls can be watered manually, automatically, or using a tank. For the walls at Brabantia, automatic watering was the preferred option.
A century of quality and design
Brabantia started out in 1919 as Van Elderen & Co in Aalst (the Netherlands), producing milk churns, jugs, sieves, and funnels. Over the years, Brabantia has grown into a global interior design brand, known for its smart and stylish household products.
