The Municipality of Apeldoorn started transforming the city’s ageing market square in 2021. During the renovation, Apeldoorn Partners in the ‘Plein van de Stad’ campaign showcased the historic role of the market square in the city. In a narrative campaign, locals and visitors discovered the role of a city square and what had occurred there in earlier years, with AR technology showing how the square would look. The campaign was prominently displayed on construction fences at the market square and alternated with Mobilane’s sustainable construction hoarding fences with living plants. This way, construction work, the campaign, and the greening of the city were temporarily brought together at the Market Square.
