A green, sustainable and healthy office environment for happy employees

Businesses and organizations are seeking to create healthier working environments by bringing plants and nature into their offices. More and more frequently, this means adding more plants, using more sustainable materials, or considering environmentally conscious options in breakout and communal areas. Adding more greenery and natural elements not only makes a workplace look more attractive; it also contributes to a healthy environment and has a positive effect on the general well-being of employees.

Sufficient privacy without compromising on connection

How do you offer a sense of privacy at the office, without employees feeling increasingly isolated from one another? More and more often, LiveDivider PLUS is being used as a partition between desks and to create a sense of distance in rooms in a sustainable way. Placing LiveDivider PLUS between workstations serves as a quick way to create subdivisions in a space. LiveDivider PLUS is Mobilane’s modular and green room divider. This divider can be used to partition an open space without compromising on its open character. With its metal frame and sturdy base, even the bare structure of LiveDivider PLUS is pretty pleasing on the eye. The frame is filled with six interchangeable plant cassettes on both sides.

LiveDivider PLUS can also be used as a route marker or to help screen off meeting rooms, cafeterias, auditoriums, or other public meeting areas within the building to create safe distances between employees.

Case Studies

LiveDivider PLUS can be used to help realize a variety of different styles, such as modern, botanical, industrial, bohemian, or rustic. Whether you’re going for an urban jungle look at the office or a more corporate vibe like at this office building on the IJ in Amsterdam (NL), our natural and living room divider offers a handy and quick solution.

A healthy office

The air quality in buildings is often poor, as many people spend time together in a relatively small space. Volatile organic compounds (VOCs) from printers, copiers, or carpets in offices only add to the poor quality of the air we breathe at our offices. On top of that, climate control and ventilation systems are often not cleaned regularly or properly.

Indoor air quality is important if we want to create healthy offices. Fortunately, plants can be used in buildings to help clean the air. Their air-purifying properties lead to cleaner air and a healthier working environment, and reduce the prevalence of health conditions such as headache, fatigue, sore or dry throat, eye irritation, coughing, and dry skin.

More green, less stress

Employees experience higher levels of stress and pressure than ever before in the workplace. According to research by TNO (the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research), the percentage of people with work-related burnout has risen from 11% to 16% in the past ten years. Stress and the inability to focus in the workplace are often cited as reasons. Placing planted walls or living artwork in the workspace offers a sustainable way to change this. Plants have been proven to reduce stress and increase productivity.

Higher productivity

Greenery has a positive effect on attracting employees. Where plants are present in an office space, productivity is 15% higher than in offices without plants. Plants help increase revenue and reduce absenteeism. On average, employees take 1.6 fewer days off sick when they when they work in an office that has plants, compared to an office without.

Space-saving greenery in the office

Using large planters in offices is often a no-go due to a lack of office space and the need to maximize cost-effectiveness. Vertical greenery presents a smart solution to this problem. Mobilane's innovative and sustainable green systems take up little space, contribute to sustainable and healthy buildings, and can help businesses achieve certifications such as BREAAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method), LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design), WELL (monitoring features of the built environment that impact human health and well-being), and the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).

Biophilic Design

Biophilic design is an approach to architecture that forges closer connections between the users of a building and nature. Since we spend an average of 90% of our time indoors, it is imperative to bring natural elements inside, and to create environments that reference nature in both obvious and subtle ways. The most direct and visual principle of biophilic design is the application of greenery in indoor spaces.
