A Mediterranean vibe in the garden with the instant Green Screen ‘Trachelospermum jasminoides’
- Green Living Fence
Creating a lush and natural environment does not have to be a time-consuming process. With Mobilane’s Green Screen Trachelospermum jasminoides, an outdoor space can quickly be transformed into a beautiful, private oasis. This versatile hedge offers numerous benefits, from its lush green leaves to its wonderful fragrance. In a town in the Netherlands, several residents opted to install jasmine Green Screens in their gardens because of the instant summer vibe these hedges bring.
Aesthetic appeal
The ready-made Green Screen Trachelospermum jasminoides, better known as star jasmine, is known for its elegant and attractive appearance. It has glossy, dark green leaves that form a dense and lush backdrop for any outdoor space. Jasmine develops small, dainty white flowers that give off a sweet fragrance. As a result, the hedge adds a certain elegance and natural beauty to the landscape.
Consultation with an official Mobilane partner
The consultation and installation process for the hedges in the various gardens was handled by Van der Veen Green Projects. Owner Thomas van der Veen comments: “The owners of one of the gardens wanted a more rural garden reminiscent of mild summer evenings. During the renovation of this garden, we made the choice to install jasmine Green Screen hedges as a border all around the garden. These hedges produce stunning flowers, and in summer, the sweet fragrance genuinely makes you feel like you’re on holiday in your own garden. Combined with the apple blossom in spring and the different colors of the outdoor furniture, the hedge adds the finishing touch to the overall experience.”
Easy installation
Green Screen’s metal mesh structure keeps your garden secure from outsiders. At the bottom, the mesh is curved and covered in coconut fiber, which gives the roots the chance to grow. This ensures that Mobilane’s Green Screens can easily be transplanted without damaging the roots. Mobilane’s hedges are easy to lift and place in a trench in the ground. Over time, the coconut material dissolves, and the roots grow further into the soil.
Privacy and shielding
One of the main advantages of our ready-made jasmine hedge is the fact that it allows you to create privacy. The dense foliage forms a living green wall that effectively shields the outdoor space from prying eyes. Van der Veen: “We have been an official partner of Mobilane for many years, and we’ve always worked together really well. The quality of its Green Screens is never anything but top-notch, so we’re always happy to recommend jasmine.”
Fragrance
Aside from its visual appeal, the jasmine hedge dazzles the senses with its captivating scent. The small star-shaped white flowers that appear in summer spread a sweet fragrance that makes it even more delightful to spend time outdoors. Pollinators such as bees and butterflies are attracted by the scent, adding to the biodiversity of the garden. “The residents of the garden with the thick beech tree came to us for a garden fence that needed to be instantly green and densely vegetated. In addition, the hedge needed to match the beech, and bring in more life in the form of birds and insects. As soon as we suggested putting in a jasmine ready-made Green Screen, their eyes lit up. The nesting boxes that we installed complete the experience,” van der Veen comments.
Versatility
Green Screen Trachelospermum jasminoides is a versatile species that comes in useful in a wide range of landscaping scenarios. The species works as a stand-alone hedge, or as a boundary for a garden or business park. Jasmine also looks great as a natural element on a balcony, or to split up a landscape. The versatility of the species makes this hedge suitable for both residential and commercial landscapes.
Maintenance
For optimum success when installing greenery, it is essential to take into account the specific climate and growing conditions of the environment. Our ready-made jasmine Green Screen prefers a sunny spot, and in harsh winters, the roots should be covered. The hedge will need to be pruned to maintain its shape and promote healthy growth, but this is a straightforward task that can be carried out once a year after flowering.
