Brilliant Group creates Urban Jungle using living green room dividers in new office building

  • LiveDivider PLUS

Brilliant Group in Duiven (NL) has recently fitted out a completely new building, which the company will move into on June 5, 2023. Green room dividers lend the office spaces at the new premises an “urban jungle” look, facilitating an optimal sense of tranquility and inspiration for employees and visitors alike. As a real eye-catcher, LiveDivider PLUS is one of the key items contributing to this living, green interior.

A green room divider

Brilliant Group, a safety and hygiene equipment wholesaler, added fifteen of these modular living room dividers to its rooms. Their purpose is to screen off the desks and various clusters. The unique LiveDivider PLUS system allows you to stack modules with interchangeable plant cassettes on top of one other in any way you wish. In doing so, you get more freedom to arrange a space flexibly and bring greenery closer to people. The result is a movable, double-sided green wall.

A new way to show employees they are valued

“We are in the process of achieving BREEAM certification and WELL certification for the optimal working environment we’ve created for our employees. One aspect of this is bringing nature inside and forging links to a living, green environment. In addition, we ourselves wanted the spaces to exude homeliness, so that employees feel right at ease here. We like to lead by example, and as an employer, we want to attract young talents, while also offering our permanent employees a great place to work so they can see how much we value them. All our spaces are flex spaces, and we don’t refer to them as ‘office spaces’, but as ‘gardens’ instead,” Ellis Rosendahl, co-owner of Brilliant Group, explains.

Office becomes urban jungle work garden

There are three different “gardens” in the building, all decorated to create a distinct atmosphere. First of all, there’s the “Tranquility” space, where people work in silence and no phone calls are allowed. As Rosendahl puts it: “The peace and quiet we’ve created here allows people to focus without being disturbed. This area mostly consists of plants in pots, as there is no need to create extra privacy. Elsewhere, we’ve got our “Dynamic” space. As the name suggests, this space is buzzing with meetings, phone calls, and general interaction. This is where the LiveDividers really come into their own. In addition to their shielding role, these living room dividers also have an acoustic function. The third space, called “Flow”, most closely resembles a familiar office garden. Here, people work, make phone calls, and pick each other’s brains in more relaxed manner. There are also four cabins where people can retreat and work in silence.”

Greenery as far as the eye can see

In addition to its LiveDividers, Brilliant Group has other plants in pots to create a completely natural environment. Florist Lindhout was brought in as the interior landscaper. As an official Mobilane partner, they recommended LiveDividers because of their ease of use, design, and the fact that the product can buffer enough water to last four to six weeks — which comes in handy during the summer, when people take their holidays. “When people come for the first time, they are often overwhelmed by the jungle effect. Pretty soon after, they tell me they really like it, and that the atmosphere in these spaces puts them completely at ease. Sustainability is an important aspect for us. People can book the rooms and desks in advance using a system. Using a sensor under the desks, we can also track whether someone has actually been sitting there. Based on those occupancy figures, we plan when to clean the desks, saving lots of water and labor along the way. After all, if no one has used a desk all day, there’s no need to clean that desk every evening,” Rosendahl adds.
